April 27, 2017- Senator Keith Ingram audio report of news from the 91st General Assembly.

In this week’s report:

  • On Monday, May 1, the legislature will get back together in Little Rock to adjourn the 2017 regular session.
  • We actually finished all of our business and went home in early April. Since then, the legislature has officially been in recess. When we come back on May 1 to adjourn, it will mark the official end of 2017 regular session.
  • The governor and legislative leaders are studying the possibility of convening an immediate special session that would begin soon after the close of the regular session. We anticipate that the special session will be short, hopefully no longer than three days. The purpose is to authorize the state to seek federal Medicaid waivers.
  • I am on record in support of the Arkansas model of health care, which is our unique method of implementing the national Affordable Care Act. Our version has served us well. It has provided medical care to thousands of working families and it has helped to financially stabilize small town and rural hospitals across the state.
