In this week’s report:

  • The presidential election is hogging all the headlines, but it’s important to stay informed about some of the so-called down ballot measures
  • Not only will there be a slate of candidates such as for the U.S. Senate and a slew of local races, there will possibly be seven ballot issues to be decided by the voters
  • Here is a summary of the three proposed amendments referred by the legislature during last year’s regular session: Issue 1 is an amendment to extend the terms of county officials from two to four years. Issue 2 is an amendment to allow the governor to retain his or her powers and duties when absent from the state. Issue 3 is a far-reaching economic development amendment that establishes a uniform definition of economic development projects.
